Gambits

During a game of Doms there is bound to be at least one silly mistake - these are called Gambits. After years of painful research the PNC has agreed the following :

Cornell's postulate : The double seven never scores

The Cornell refutation : "The double seven never scores" should be said very loudly whenever it does

The Groves' threshold : The time at night at which it is too late to start a game of doms

The Groves' limitation : Only normal threes and fives should be played

Moore's Gambit : Starting with a dom which isn't a double

Orlando's Gambit : Playing a dom which can't be played at either end

Westwood's Gambit : Playing a dom, which can be played at both ends, at the end which scores the least

Hall's Gambit : Playing the right dom at the right end but playing it the wrong way round

Hall's Allegation : Anybody going after Syd never scores

Black's Quandary : Which of the two 11|3s should I play?

BM's Proposal : Before the next hand should we get the next round in?

Morrising : This is not technically a gambit but it is included here for completeness. Somebody is said to be Morrising, or to have Morrised when they reach the high 90's but then fail to score, and then somebody else either catches up, or overtakes and wins.
